Why Women Empowerment?
Once, B R Ambedkar said, “I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved.” In India, women form 50% of population, do 70% of work hours, earn 10% of salary and won 1% of property. Gender equality remains a burning issue even when women play equally important roles in driving the rural economy in India. Women have long-endured familial, communal, societal, and economic discrimination. We put women and girls at the heart of all our work because we know that we cannot overcome poverty without fighting inequality. In a just and inclusive world, each individual must have equal rights and opportunities. When we invest in women and girls, we invest in strengthening their families and communities
Extent of the problem
Women movement is a movement which demands equal legal, economic & social rights for women. Women have always been facing the inequitable distribution of domestic chores besides other responsibilities such as fetching water, collecting firewood and even working in the farms. This is severely impacting their physical security, opportunities for adult education, overall productivity, income generation capacity, nutritional status, and overall health and well-being.
Our Approach
BTCF focuses on large scale interventions that build communities that are capable of empowering women and girls. BTCF looking for the freedom for womens, the freedom in the real sense of term is, possible only with the empowerment & participation of people in exercise of their capabilities of choice in society.
